The Innerkofler Via Ferrata is probably the most famous via ferrata in the Sexten Dolomites. It follows the former Italian frontline of World War I and leads to the summit of Monte Paterno – an impressive peak with breathtaking views of the world-famous Tre Cime di Lavaredo.
Particularly striking is the passage through the historic war tunnels. These narrow galleries carved into the rock are both fascinating and haunting, offering a powerful insight into the harsh conditions in which soldiers had to work, fight and live here during World War I.
