Spontaneous Snow Week in Val Stura

Due to the abundant and persistent snowfall in Piedmont this winter, we have organised this Snow Week at short notice.

Like Val Maira, Val Stura runs from the Po Valley towards France. However, unlike its neighbouring valley, it has a drivable mountain pass: Colle della Maddalena. Reaching an impressive 2,000 metres, our tour starting points lie to the left and right of the pass road, partly on the French side and partly on the Italian side.

There are enormous touring possibilities, and new objectives reveal themselves from every summit. Thanks to its proximity to the sea, this region receives a lot of snowfall, so untracked slopes are often to be expected.

The first three days are spent in a unique mountain hut — a hidden gem full of surprises. Secluded, authentic and charming, it is the perfect base for our ski tours, which start right outside. Here, nature and alpine enjoyment take centre stage.

After a fulfilling day in the snow, you can relax in the small but refined spa area: enjoy warmth, tranquillity and recovery while taking in the wonderful views of the surrounding mountains. Nature and alpine enjoyment take centre stage here.

Afterwards, we move down into the valley and stay at the newly renovated Osteria della Pace. Tucked away on the village square in the small town of Sambuco, it is run by Bartolo and his family, who are passionate and hospitable.

Bartolo is a passionate chef and a member of Slow Food who has received multiple awards — a fact that is evident in every course. The wine cellar is equally impressive. This leads to a delightful question: is the anticipation greater for the next tour or the evening's culinary experience?
