The 'Hoch Tirol' is not only one of the most famous ski traverses in the Eastern Alps, but also undoubtedly one of the most beautiful. From a ski mountaineering perspective, it presents a unique challenge.

Crossing some of the most beautiful and well-known peaks of the Eastern Alps on skis, including the Großvenediger (3,657 m) and the Großglockner (3,798 m), naturally involves long ascents in high alpine terrain and fantastic descents across vast glaciers. This is combined with physical exertion, but also cosy hut stays after the tours.

Over the course of six days, the 'Hoch Tirol' will take us along the classic route from Kasern in the Upper Ahrntal to Kals near the Großglockner, provided that the weather, snow conditions, our fitness and our endurance allow it. Each day, we travel in high alpine and glaciated terrain.

The highlight of the traverse is the ascent of the Großglockner summit on the final day of the tour. A second mountain guide will join the group for the ascent from the Stüdlhütte.

You will need to be fit enough to ascend up to 1,700 metres and have good downhill technique in all snow conditions.
