The high valley of Livigno is best known in the Alpine region as a duty-free zone and, at most, as a ski resort. However, the terrain served by lifts is limited to the outer section of the valley around the main village. Fortunately, this leaves ample space for ski tourers in the numerous hidden side valleys between the Forcola di Livigno and the Passo di Foscagno.
Despite its proximity to the ski area, Livigno remains largely undiscovered as a ski touring destination. This is partly due to the more challenging access in winter and partly because the terrain can seem complex and confusing at first.
Typically, the open valleys only reveal themselves after a short, steep section at the start of the ascent, opening up a wide range of easy-to-moderate ski tours. In this expansive, sparsely forested landscape, you are often rewarded with untouched slopes and pristine descents.
From the summits, you can enjoy sweeping views of the impressive alpine scenery, including the Bernina range, the Engadin mountains and the striking Cima de’ Piazzi and Ortler peaks.
At our family-run hotel, you can look forward to excellent cuisine for indulgent evenings, cosy rooms for restful nights and a small yet refined wellness area in which to unwind after unforgettable days in the mountains. This is ski touring with a true sense of enjoyment.
