The Defereggen Valley is located in the heart of the Hohe Tauern National Park and is framed by the peaks of the Rieserferner, Lasörling and Schober mountain groups. Thanks to the protection afforded by the national park, this is one of the most pristine high alpine valleys in the Alps. Despite the presence of villages such as Hopfgarten, St. Jakob and St. Veit, the Defereggen Valley remains the least populated region in the Austrian Alps. Its defining qualities of authenticity, peace and pristine nature are immediately clear.

Our accommodation is the perfect base for ski touring. In the evenings, you can unwind in the wellness area, which offers a variety of saunas, or treat yourself to a relaxing spa treatment.

The ski tours in the valley are equally secluded. Guidebooks offer limited information, and on the mountain you will mostly encounter local ski tourers or people crossing over from Antholz via the Staller Sattel. Fortunately, this pass is also accessible by car from Defereggen in winter. At 2,020 metres, it offers reliable snow conditions and a wide range of tour options.

These include: Innerrodelkungge (2,729 m), Rote Wand (2,818 m), Almerhorn (2,985 m), Hinterbergkofel (2,727 m) and Kahorn (2,692 m), among others.
