During this course, you will learn all the essential fundamentals of ice climbing, including how to use the necessary technical equipment and the correct climbing and belaying techniques. You will also learn how to abseil using Abalakov threads and ice screws. While some experience with an ice axe and crampons is helpful, it is not required – even if you have only climbed on rock or indoors before, you are very welcome to join us.

On the first day, we will start in an ice climbing garden, where you will learn how to move efficiently and save energy on ice. Over the following days, we will gradually increase the level of difficulty. The area's variety of frozen waterfalls provide ideal conditions for learning and progression.

We will be staying in a simple guesthouse in a great location, where you will be treated to traditional South Tyrolean cuisine after a full day on the ice. The surrounding area has several ice climbing spots, which gives us plenty of opportunities to become comfortable and confident in this unique environment.

Program:

Friday: Morning meeting at our accommodation in Rein, gear check, then straight onto the ice.
