No other town in the Dolomites is as perfectly nestled between towering mountain peaks as Cortina d'Ampezzo. Its status as the host city of the 1956 Winter Olympics, its role as a filming location for Luis Trenker and James Bond movies, and much more have all contributed to its worldwide fame.

Cortina has always been known as Ampezzo in Italian, and the mountain range is also referred to as the 'Ampezzo Dolomites'. There are many beautiful day hikes to enjoy in the immediate vicinity of Cortina, which are naturally very popular. This challenging high-altitude trail, which we have designed for this programme, keeps a respectful distance, circling Cortina on a route that forms a horseshoe shape.

You'll be in areas with significantly fewer people. This is because you will always be staying in mountain huts (rifugios) in order to complete the stages of the hike. Most of the trail leads through lesser-known areas in close proximity to some of the area's highest and most impressive peaks, such as Antelao and Sorapiss. At the end of the week, we will approach the more famous places in the Ampezzo Dolomites, finishing the tour on one of the most beautiful Dolomite passes: Passo Giau, which is located directly above Cortina.

Participants must have hiking experience and the ability to cover more than 1000 metres of elevation gain per day.
